Girls Flag Football has exploded in popularity in North Carolina and across the United States. Now, as the sport continues to grow across the state the district who are offering the sport are attempting to align their schedules so that the sport can become sanctioned by the NCHSAA.
The district currently playing the sport have all played their games in different seasons over the last few years. This is an issue standing in the way of NCHSAA sanctioning.
There is a solution though as many districts plan to hold their tryouts and seasons in September through November so that their season calendars align.
Although the sport will not be sanctioned for the 2024-2025 school year this move will be a crucial step for the sport and programs across the state for North Carolina.
The sport will also continue to grow this season with other school districts launching girls flag football this fall.
